Independent app studio

Apps for every screen, engineered to the frame.

BufferPoint LLC designs, builds and publishes apps for TVs, phones and the web — our own, and our clients'.

  1. Played: what has already been watched.
  2. Playhead: where playback is now.
  3. Buffer point: enough is loaded ahead to play smoothly.
  4. Buffered: loaded and ready to play.
  5. Still to come: not loaded yet.

buf·fer point /ˈbʌf.ər pɔɪnt/ n.

  1. The moment a player has buffered enough to play smoothly.
  2. An app development and publishing studio that builds every app — its own and its clients' — around reaching that moment quickly.

What we build

We design, build and publish apps for the screen across the room, the one in your hand and the browser, plus the backends behind them. Our speciality is media and video: players, remote-first TV interfaces, big catalogs that stay fast, subtitles and multilingual interfaces.

How a project runs

Six stages, from the first conversation to life after launch. The buffer point comes after testing: the build is ready to ship.

  1. 01

    Scope

We agree what the app must do, which screens it runs on and what done looks like.

  2. 02

    Design

Interfaces shaped for each screen: remote-first on TV, touch on phones, keyboard on the web.

  3. 03

    Build

The app itself, plus the backend and APIs it needs to run.

  4. 04

    Test on real devices

On the TVs, remotes, phones and tablets people actually use, not only emulators.

  5. 05

    Publish

Store submission and review: listings, privacy disclosures, content ratings and reviewer access.

  6. 06

    Maintain

Updates for new OS versions and store policies, fixes and new releases.

Our apps

Alongside client work, we build and publish apps of our own. Each one gets its own website and its own policies.

How we work

Four rules we hold to on every project, ours or a client's.

  1. 01

    Clear from day one

Every project starts with a written scope and timeline. Clients own their code, their store accounts and their data.

  2. 02

    Private by default

No ads, trackers or third-party scripts on this site. The apps we build collect only what their features need.

  3. 03

    Built on real hardware

We test on the TVs, remotes, phones and tablets people actually use, before anything reaches a store.

  4. 04

    Store-ready

Store policies, privacy disclosures, accessibility and localization are handled from the first build, not the week before launch.
